Is it possible to configure WebHelpDesk (running on OS X Server) to authenticate via OpenDirectory? If so, what is the configuration process? I would assume it's similar to ActiveDirectory, but there are some substantial differences in the way the back-ends work.
open directory is ldap - so just create a new ldap connection under setup -> clientsi dont think that there are big problems to hook them together
Thanks for the quick response, Mathias. I just went back to check, but there isn't an LDAP option listed under Setup > General > Authentication. The only options are:- WebHelpDesk- SAML- CAS- Servlet- HTTP Header- HTTP Form Value
I could swear I saw it there in the past?
nope - its under setup -> clients
you setup the sync for your clients with a ldap connectionfrom this moment on these clients will be able to login to your helpdeskyour tech user needed to be added manually and linkt to the client object
i chose webhelpdesk under authentication which gives you the standard web form thingy
Thanks again, Matthias. I will look into this some more this weekend. :)
When using Open Directory for LDAP Authentication, make sure you use SSL if you are using Simple Client Authentication otherwise passwords are sent over in plain text.
Under the Setup > General > Authentication settings, use Web Help Desk Authentication setting.
