It's all very well being able to subscribe to Techs calendars but I would like to be able add meetings and such like to the calendar. That way a tech will be able to look in one calendar for everything.
It also means I dont have to look at sharing the iCal through a web server checking there and there ticketing calendar. At the moment I would have to create a ticket to show in their calendar. Any ideas?
Rather than start a new topic, I would like to add that a way to schedule a tech's vacation time would be nice. This would add to the ability of everyone to see everything going on in the calendar, and would also allow the system to automatically flag him as vacation (and assign to his backup) during that period.
It would also be very helpful if all scheduled work (ie changes) were listed in one calendar for all techs to view. This way techs will be able to view in one place all changes that are occurring during a week, month, etc. and see if it's related to user issues.
I have the dumb question of the day here...
I'm trying to subscribe to my (or any) tech calendar, and am not having luck. Can someone provide me with extremely detailed instructions for how you're doing this?
Thanks in advance!
rbauer -- what Calendar app are you using -- the WHD support iCal, Outlook 2007 and Windows Calendar on the desktop.
I am using iCal. I do have users that will be using Outlook, so if you could spare the time to include dummy instructions for Outlook as well, that would be awesome. If not, iCal is my higher priority.
Thank you for your help Jonathan!
Go to the techs tab
You'll see a list of all the techs. the far right column is called ticket schedule of which you can view and subscribe. When you click subscribe (usually on your own calendar).
On the launch application window, select iCal and click ok see image. The click subscribe on the url that is shown to you in your iCal. you will then see on the left in your ical under subscritions, the tech calendar.
Note this is a view only method of the calendar so you can't add meetings or anything.
As I mentioned earlier I would like to see a central calendar across all or a group of techs.
So here's what I found... I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong, a bug, or just an oversight of using WHD within Firefox. I was unable to use the above instructions and successfully subscribe to a calendar while using Firefox. I hadn't tried subscribing to a calendar within Safari prior to my original posting, so I should have tried that. I think this is something worth noting somewhere in the user forums, if it's the case that you need to use Safari to subscribe to Tech Calendars.
I'm not sure how this works on the Windows side... Do we need to subscribe while using WHD within Internet Explorer, or will it work in Firefox in the Windows world for subscribing to Outlook 2007 calendars?
Thanks for your help!
No issues here with subscribing in iCal to "Joe Admin's" calendar from the Online Demo using Firefox v3.0.11 on a Mac. What issues or errors do you get?
So I love Google Calendar and I use it for everything. I tried subscribing my WHD calendar to Google Calendar but the only problem is that Google Calendar does not update iCal subscriptions automatically. At least that's the conclusion I have come to. Does anyone else use Google Calendar and had this problem and hopefully solved it. Thanks so much for any help.
This has just hit with the holidays season that you have to set yourself to on vacation as you leave, which given the hectic world we live in, can get overlooked.
The ability to pre post being on leave would certainly be good
Hi,
I would love to synchronize my webhelpdesk calendar with my kerio/exchange calendar.
It would be awesome to have a bi-directional synchronisation, or maybe WHD could connect to the calendar on Kerio?
